Illustration Friday: Skyline

I live close to San Francisco. Here is something I drew using the latest version of Illustrator. It's new for me because I tried to get rid of the "cartoony" black lines that I usually put into my finished drawings. Thanks Joann Denning, my multimedia teacher, for introducing me to this new medium.

Here's the finished artwork on the CD cover for "I left my heart in San Francisco".

And for another assignment ... a book for Rip Van Winkle.

  1. I love the color treatment of the foliage between the bridge and city. Very neo-impressionistic. An excellent job, Vern.

  2. I really like the bold blocks of color and the fact that you did not use a black outline! It makes this beautiful piece very realistic looking with the shadows in colors!

  6. Very interesting your fresh style. Certainly, Illustrator is a powerfull tool maybe the most. Your drawing is great because is so dificult obtain the illusion of perspective in the way that you do, with few color.
    Good luck with adobe illustrator.
