Sketchbook: Epcot Test Track

I went on vacation to Florida's Epcot Center and had a blast! Standing in line at Epcot's "Test Track" ride for over two hours, I decided to pull out my sketch book and pass the time by drawing a sketch while waiting. Everyone in line stared at me.

Technically, I've been carrying around my Fabriano Artist's Journal which has an assortment of pastel colored paper. It's an experiment to see how i like it. Drawing on a colored background fills the background and gives the appearance that the composition is more complete. As I add color, I pull color away.

I think I like the result.

Illustration Friday: Buzz 2

Here's something I came up with while brainstorming for a employee incentive program. I was asked to draw a couple of comical situations showing "velocity" with the caption: "Be the one to break through" (or something like that).

Although, this drawing never made it past the planning stages. It never got printed which is too bad. Well, it's a great entry for this week's www.illustrationfriday.com word: Buzzzzzz. Hope you like it!

Illustration Friday: Buzz

Here's an illo I used for another IF entry but it worked great for this one too. (I couldn't resist.) I'll draw another later this week if I have some time. Have a great week everyone!

Illustration Friday: Pheonix

But wait a minute here folks. I've also written a poem to go with the above illo:

A little pink "pheonix" went a-flapping
above a couple havin' a dinner;
Then the bald guy just won't stop a-yapping
about how he's such a big fat winner!

Happy New Year everyone!
2007's is gonna be a great year!
Let's all get creative and push ourselves even more!

Illustration Friday: Peace

Here's something I drew for the 50th birthday celebration for the United Nations. It was held in San Francisco, the organization's birthplace. This poster was displayed for a three month period in San Francisco subway trains.

Happy holidays everyone! This Sunday, I'm off for a little vacation to my home state of Florida. I'll see you all after the beginning of the new year! 2007! :)

Illustration Friday: Help

Here's my painting for this week's word "help". I painted a vacationing fat cat from the view of a panhandler. I tried to play around with foreshortening a bit with the hand extending from the tourist's body to the tin cup with the cityscape in the background. To add a little intrigue, I show the back of the sign so that the viewer can use his/her imagination as to what it says.

SFG: Pirate

"Hey, you looking at me Kid."
Here's a SFG sketch with parchment paper digitally added to match the look of an old pirates map. Check out the age spots, smudges, ink drops and coffee cup stains. These were done with some Photoshop brushes that I downloaded from the web.
